CEREMONY OF THE TWINNING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF NEWARK AND ABOBO.

The Economic Promotion Service of Côte d’Ivoire in the United States, Canada and Mexico Coordinated, in collaboration with the town hall of Newark, the signing of a twinning agreement between the city of Newark and the municipality of Abobo.

The official ceremony took place on February 17, 2023 at Newark City Hall. HE Kandia CAMARA, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and the Diaspora, Mayor of the city of Abobo, accompanied by a delegation including Mr. Faman TOURE, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire, HE Ambassador Inza CAMARA, General Delegate of SPECI, HE IPO Gbolie Désiré Wulfran, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations as well as Mrs Arlette BADOU N’GUESSAN  KOUAMÉ, Mayor of the city of Arrah , Secretary General of the Union of Cities and Communes of Côte d’Ivoire (UVICOCI), attended the ceremony.

The twinning agreement signed.

Mr. Mayor of Newark, Ras BARAKA was, for his part, accompanied by Mrs. Ligia DEFREITAS, Deputy Mayor of Newark and other members of the Newark city council.

During his speech, HE Kandia CAMARA, Minister of State, highlighted the many similarities between the city of Newark and the commune of Abobo in terms of diversity and universality and praised the coordination work of HE Ambassador Inza CAMARA , HE Ambassador Ibrahim TOURÉ and the African Affairs Officer of Newark Mr. Aboubacar KOYATÉ for the signing of this twinning agreement. 

“  The city of Newark is ready to mobilize all its resources so that this agreement is a success in terms of economic, social and cultural exchange”  guaranteed Mr. BARAKA in his speech.


It should be added that this alliance aims, on the one hand, to contribute to the development of the commune of Abobo and on the other hand, to consolidate bilateral relations between the two cities in the areas of education, transport, health, new technologies, culture.

 A delegation from Newark plans to carry out an economic mission to Abobo to mark the first furrows of this agreement.
